WFWPI Holds Three CSW 70-related Events for Women’s Month

New York - The women’s month of March opened briskly with three major events lined up by the Women’s Federation for World Peace International and partner organizations.

For the commemoration of the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), WFWPI holds a leadership training that will certify participants to become UN Advocacy Officers in their respective countries.

The WFWPI Leadership and Advocacy Training will be on March 6-8, 2026, at the New Yorker Hotel and will be participated by about 80 participants worldwide.

Dr. Rior Santos, program head of the UN Office for Project Services and WFWPI Vice President and director for UN Relations Offices Merly Barlaan will spearhead the training focused on Project Management Framework and Civil Society–Government Partnership & Institutionalization Strategy.

Philippine Ambassador (ret.) Mario de Leon Jr. will speak on meaningful participation in UN and Government Processes.

He will provide participants with knowledge on positioning priorities by looking at how UN processes works and where civil society can contribute meaningfully through education, economic empowerment, social protection, and legal frameworks.

On March 11, WFWPI will co-sponsor the forum and Southeast Asia launch of HERRD Huddle at 1 Vanderbilt in New York City at 5:30PM. Partner organizations are HERRD and WoW Coaching.

The event "Women's Leadership and Access to Justice” features Philippine Trade Commissioner for NY Alma Argayoso DTI New York, Dr. Fran Johnston, Founder and CEO, Teleos Leadership Institute, Merly Barrete Barlaan, Women's Federation for World Peace International, UN Office UN Relations Offices director, Ivanna Aguiling-Dela Torre, Chief Curator of HERRD, Isa-Miguel Buencamino, founder of Women of the World Coaching, and Ms. Loida Nicolas Lewis, FilAm philanthropist and immigration attorney.

It will be moderated by journalist Karen Davila.

On March 12, Anna Eleanor Fierst, great granddaughter of the longest serving US First Lady, diplomat, and leader in the crafting of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights Eleanor Roosevelt, will keynote the upcoming Bridge of Peace program and luncheon at the UN NY Headquarters.

Anna Eleanor Roosevelt Fierst is a dedicated historian and chair of the Board for the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill.

WFWPI and WFWP USA are partnering in this endeavor.  The Bridge of Peace is a special program designed to celebrate reconciliation, unity, and lasting peace among individuals and families.

WFWPI is an organization of women with 128 member countries worldwide. It has a General Consultative Status with the UN ECOSOC.
