GENEVA OFFICE OPPORTUNITIES

The Geneva Office focuses its efforts at the UN Office in Geneva in the following areas:

• Mediation

This is an opportunity to get directly involved with WFWPI’s advocacy work with the Human Rights Commission (HRC). The intern will work closely with the Director of the Geneva office to work on projects that may include: developing and running a side event; outreach to NGOs, UN reps, missions and UN staff; developing advocacy materials; and contributing to researching or drafting written statements in collaboration with other NGOs.

This internship is available three times during the year, around the three sessions of the Human Rights Council, in March (four weeks), June (three weeks) and September (three weeks). The interns will be expected to commit to the time frame associated with their preferred session, and will work with the Geneva office to determine what activities they may get involved in, based upon the intern’s availability.

The Geneva office offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to develop their own research project, related to one of the areas of focus listed above. This internship is flexible in length.

Interested applicants should submit a resume, cover letter and research project proposal to unoffice@wfwp.org. The proposal should be no more than two pages and should include: the area of focus their topic will relate to; an overview of their research topic; guiding research questions and thesis statement; a research plan/methodology; a short preliminary list of UN offices, resolutions, or individuals they may contact or look into in conducting their research; and any cited sources consulted in making their proposal.
