APRIL GWPN FORUM: "ART TO HEART: THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF CREATIVE EXPRESSION"

Art has long been recognized as a potent force that transcends boundaries, touching the very core of human emotions and experiences. From ancient cave paintings to modern-day masterpieces, art has served as a powerful medium for expressing ideas, emotions, and stories that words alone often cannot convey. "Art Touches Heart: The Transformative Power of Creative Expression" delves into this profound aspect of art, exploring how it has the remarkable ability to touch the depths of our souls and bring about transformative experiences.

Mother Moon greatly values art and culture. Artistically inclined herself, she and her late husband, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, invested many resources into the arts. Through establishing groups such as the Little Angels of Korea, a children’s folk dance and singing troupe, and the Universal Ballet Company, the first company from Korea to perform internationally, she aimed to share the essence and original purpose of creative expression: to move hearts through expressing love, gratitude and devotion through beauty. In this forum, speakers will discuss the transformative power of creative expression, drawing from their own experiences as well as reflecting on the perspective of Mother Moon on this topic.

At its essence, this topic illuminates how art is not merely a visual or auditory experience but a deeply personal and emotional one. "Art Touches Heart" will celebrate the universal language of art, reminding us of its capacity to inspire, heal, and connect us all on a profound level.

To unearth these incredible stories, WFWP recognizes and honors women not only for their outstanding accomplishments in various fields of endeavor, in the form of a HerStory Award, but especially for the story "behind it."

Each HerStory recipient is selected for her courage, compassion, and commitment to using her gifts and talents to uplift others, despite often overwhelming challenges. During the program on March 30, each awardee will share some of the deep wisdom and lessons learned in overcoming trials and tribulations.

We hope you will join us to celebrate them and hear from some amazing women peace leaders! All are welcome to join, so feel free to invite your family and friends to join in the celebration.

Olga loves telling stories with her illustrations. She collects ideas for her works by observing the world around her as well as painting stories from her own childhood. Her favorite part of making art is creating characters and putting them into cozy environments. Olga uses bright, vibrant watercolor paints to bring her ideas to life. The main goal of her art journey is to enchant children’s imagination and bring happiness and joy to both young readers and their parents. Nourishing Change: Women as Catalysts for Food Security, Economic Development, and Climate ResilienceCurrent statistics indicate that women and girls are disproportionately affected by poverty, with 70% of the world's poor being women. Grounded in the framework of the 68th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), our Parallel Event seeks to bridge critical gaps in our approach to gender equality by addressing the intricate connections between poverty, climate change, and women's empowerment. Panelists will provide expert insights on the leadership capacity of women as catalysts in transforming food systems and achieving food security, economic development, and climate resilience. Through discussion and dialogue, we hope to move towards accountability, policy implementation, and collaboration in empowering women in the context of “the Right to a Clean, Healthy and Sustainable Environment.”

WFWPI, in collaboration with the Women’s Consortium of Nigeria and SPARK Philippines, aims to foster collaboration and innovative solutions, to contribute to the economic development and well-being of women and girls worldwide.
