On September 17, WFWP Spain hosted a webinar discussion on "The Relations between North and South Korea: Proposals to Advance the Process of a Peaceful Reunification."

The Korean War broke out in June of 1950. Since then, 70 years have passed, and 72 years since the Korean Peninsula was divided by the world powers of the USSR and USA, along the 38th parallel.

In 2000, the leaders of North and South Korea adopted the North-South Join Declaration, giving hope to a process of peaceful reunification. However, the situation has not shown any de-escalation of tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Many debates, conferences, round tables, and projects have taken place with the intent to develop a vision for peace on the peninsula. Many believe that the peaceful reunification and reconciliation of North and South Korea would be a precursor to solving other conflicts in the world.

WFWP Spain invited passionate speakers whose ideas, proposals, and years of dedicated study, have contributed to a deeper understanding of a potential reconciliation between the two Koreas.

Armando Lozano introduced the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) and the co-founders, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and his wife, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, who have dedicated themselves to the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula.

The three guest speakers spoke about the importance of the efforts of civil society, not only the political and economic initiatives. They emphasized that trust must be developed, and that we should look for smaller steps rather than a final, comprehensive treaty.
