Typhoon Odette Humanitarian Relief

The Phillippines were in urgent need of help from the aftermath of Super Typhoon Odette, which hit the island country hard in December 2021.

In order to help support their people in need, WFWP Philippines quickly mobilized to raise funds for the victims of Typhoon Rai. The fundraising campaign was sent out virtually to all corners of the world.

This was the message sent out to the public from the organizer of the fundraiser, Ms. Jinky Hora:

"Please help us raise money for the victims of super typhoon Odette (Rai) who are in urgent need of food and clean drinking water. Please join WFWP Philippines in giving them our warmest love and hope to get through this time of great tribulations.

Many houses were flooded, submerged, even washed away by the raging water, and others were totally wrecked by the strong winds, leaving countless families homeless, forcing them to take shelter in evacuation centers. Total blackouts resulted in no water supply, lack of safe drinking water, limited communication due to destroyed cellular sites, and inaccessible roads, which resulted in family members from afar not being able to contact their families from the affected areas.

It is heartbreaking to witness the aftermath of Super Typhoon Odette (Rai), after it severely devastated parts of the Philippines, specifically, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Siargao, Negros, Surigao and Agusan del Sur.

With your donations, we can share and extend the warmth and the true spirit of Christmas to the families in need."

Thanks to the friends and contacts of WFWP, funds were raised immediately and WFWP Philippines were able to hand-deliver aid and relief packages to their local communities. In times like this, we are really reminded of how much a difference, a tight-knit community can make.
