The International Women’s Day Forum 2025, organized by the Malaysian Parliament, was held at the Banquet Hall, Parliament Complex of Malaysia on March 7, 2025. The event, themed “Gender Equality as a Driver of Change,” began with welcoming remarks by Mr. Ahmad Husaini bin Abdul Rahman, Chief Administrator of the Malaysian Parliament.
Over 400 participants from various backgrounds attended – including Members of Parliament, ministry officials, NGOs, lecturers, and university students. The forum was officially launched by Hon. Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini binti Ahmad, Deputy Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development.
The forum emphasized the role of both women and men in building the nation fairly and without discrimination. Among the highlights was a talk show session titled “Empowered Women Leading the Nation’s Legacy,” which discussed challenges and opportunities in women’s leadership.
Discussions also focused on changing the stigma surrounding women and driving the future of women forward. The second session, titled “Inclusivity Ensures the Sustainability of Every Individual,” delved into ensuring gender equality among persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups, emphasizing that their needs must be prioritized.
The forum also addressed ways to tackle mental health issues such as anxiety and depression experienced by women in the journey towards gender equality. The event was further enlivened by an inspiring sharing session with celebrity Nana Mahazan.
The Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Malaysia was represented by Madam Lina Cheng, President, and Miss Jenisse Lim, Executive Committee Member. WFWP is honoured to have joined this impactful forum, which encouraged meaningful dialogue and networking among diverse participants.
