Guiding Children With Love (WFWP Russia)

During the months of March and April 2022, WFWP of Russia held lectures on moral education on the following topics: “The Importance of Using Good Words” and “Computer Addiction.” More than 300 schoolchildren from ages 12 to 14 from Moscow and Ryazan cities attended the lectures.

In the lectures, we first talk about the true dignity of a person and help children think about what they really need to become happy and successful in the future. Our goal was to show the children that we didn’t come to forcefully teach them or scold them for their bad behavior, but we came to share a new perspective that can give them a chance to make their own choice.

The lectures are held in dialogue form so that the children are given a chance to not only listen but actively raise their hands, answer questions and express their own opinion. Even the children of some classes that were considered difficult by their teachers were very respectful and interested in the topic. After the lectures, all children honestly wrote their reflections. Here are some of their reflections:

“I thought that it was cool and kind of trendy to sometimes use bad words in my speech but now I have realized that it is not cool at all and I don’t want to use them anymore”

“I want to change for the better and I will try to influence my friends in a good way”

“Before our talk, I thought that it was normal to use such words but now I have realized that if we keep using bad words we lose our dignity”

“I really liked the lecture. I could learn so many things. I did have problems with using bad words. But this lecture had really changed something in my mind”

“I think that such lectures are very useful not only for children but also for adults. The use of bad words leads to degradation of the society and slows down the development”.

“I have realized that because of the computer addiction the intellect becomes lower and the relationships with people become worse. I also spend much time on my phone but I will try to do my best to spend time on more important things”

“Computer addiction means that you separate from reality and get stuck in the virtual world. It is very bad because all the success that you have achieved in the virtual world will eventually disappear. I do have this problem and I will fight with it”

WFWP members are often moved to tears when they see children’s responses and read children’s reflections. Children have very pure souls and are able to understand and make the right choice, but it shows how there must be somebody who is able to guide them in the right direction.
