"Getting to Know You" Event (WFWP Las Vegas)

Women's History Month was the perfect opportunity for the WFWP chapter in Las Vegas to celebrate and gather together. On March 25, 2023 WFWP Las Vegas held its “Getting to Know You" event, which highlighted the long-awaited chapter launch of WFWP USA’s “Leadership of the Heart” education series. The atmosphere was warm and encouraging, creating a welcoming environment for both long term WFWP members and many new additions to the WFWP Las Vegas community. The multigenerational experience at the event was also so rewarding. Women with young children could easily attend thanks to the volunteer caregivers. Overall, more than 50 attendees were able to share their afternoon together, expressed their gratitude and gave positive feedback about the experience.

The afternoon began with an international luncheon, contributed by WFWP members. The food was so varied and delicious, spanning more than nine different cultures. The afternoon's emcee was the current WFWP Las Vegas Chairwoman, Mrs. Sera Hirano. The program began with a “welcome back to in-person events'' interactive activity, featuring artistically crafted origami prizes. Through the activity, the participants had a few moments to get to know one another by sharing briefly at their tables about how the last few years had impacted their lives and what brought them through those difficulties.

After that, the musicians, Ms. Wendy Herstein and Mr. Walter Garcia, gave two inspirational songs that shared messages of connection, hope and peace. The presenter, Ms. Adia Lancaster, then gave an excellent introduction to the “Leadership of the Heart” education series, which was received very well by the attendees. The presentation was then followed by an interactive question and answer session. One of the men in attendance commented later how he was particularly moved by the content on the topic of different characteristics of leadership and how the “Divine Feminine” seeks to nourish, embrace and harmonize.

Several award winning Global Women Peace Network members in attendance were then featured during a “One-Minute-Mic” session at the end, where each updated the audience on what they are working on in their own respective organizations. Among those featured were: Ms. Aimmee Kodachian, Founder of Empowering Humanity, TV.com; Dr. Reeta Thukral, Founder of Global Charity Foundation; Ms. Karen Ryce, Founder of Happy Kids.Co; Ms. Jennifer Gamons Mujica, Founder of Farmer Jen's Organics and Ms. Hilde Wiemann, Founder and CEO of Generational Healing.

Other wonderful organizations who work closely with WFWP were also represented: Ms. Leslie Rigney, Universal Peace Federation (UPF); Ms. Jennifer Silerio, Shine City; Ms. Grace Selover, Professors World Peace Academy International (PWPA) and Mr. David Teo, American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC). WFWP is so grateful for their amazing contributions to our community and world!

All the volunteers did an excellent job working together and supporting each other and many men who attended expressed their enthusiasm for the inclusive environment of this enlightened women's movement. The event proved to be a wonderful way to celebrate women of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and passions, and to share the incredible insights, vision and mission of WFWP and its co-founders, Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.
