WFWPI Grateful for the Nobel Peace Nomination of Co-found Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon
The Women’s Federation for World Peace International is honored and grateful for the nomination of its co-founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Dr. Han founded WFWP in 1992 and has grown to have established itself in 128 countries because of her dedication. Our work at the United Nations has been possible with Dr. Han’s relentless peace-building efforts. Together with the Universal Federation for World Peace, we hold a General Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council.
We are grateful to Dr. Ján Figeľ, former European Union Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief and current president of FOREF Europe, for recognizing Dr. Han’s life-long contributions to global peace initiatives, interfaith dialogue, humanitarian initiatives, and reconciliation, especially at the Korean Peninsula. Dr. Han’s work has consistently fostered dialogue and cooperation across religious, political, and cultural divides. Despite currently being in detention for political and religious reasons, Dr. Han has remained faithful and optimistic that justice will eventually bend to her side.
Dr. Figel highlighted Dr. Han’s contributions to peace as having promoted interfaith harmony through the appointment of thousands of Peace Ambassadors worldwide, organized international “Rally of Hope” events to encourage peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula, and established the Sunhak Peace Prize to honor individuals contributing to global peace. Figel also mentioned Dr. Han’s advocacy for the creation of a peace park in the Korean Demilitarized Zone under the 38th Parallel Peace Initiative. She inspires cultural diplomacy through international performances by the Little Angels Children’s Folk Ballet of Korea.
The Nobel Peace nomination means so much to WFWP because it acknowledges Dr. Han’s leadership and contributions to global peace and cooperation.
