WFWP Colombia proudly presented the heart-moving and inspiring work carried out by the Global Women Peace Ambassadors of GWPN Acacías, Meta, during the first half of 2026.

From February to June, this committed group of women has continued to embody the vision of the WFWP and the spirit of Mother’s Heart Leadership, committed to learning, serving, and strengthening their communities with dignity, respect, and a maternal heart.

February

First Annual GWPN Gathering in Acacías, Meta
Participants: 12 people
The first annual meeting of the Global Women’s Peace Network in Acacías was held as a space of welcome, reflection, and planning. New members were warmly received, and the group reviewed the activities carried out during the previous year in order to strengthen its internal processes and community impact.

The 2026 activity calendar was presented, and the methodology of work was explained, framed by the principles of dignity, respect, and a culture of peace.

This gathering strengthened the sense of belonging among the women. Welcoming new members and reviewing the previous year’s work created trust and motivation for teamwork. The participatory planning process also ensured that the 2026 calendar would respond to the real needs of the local community.

Most importantly, the meeting gave clarity of purpose. By explaining the work process under the principles of dignity, respect, and peacebuilding, the group was united around a shared mission.

“I arrived feeling afraid on the first day because I did not know anyone. But when I saw how they reviewed the work from the previous year, I understood that here people are not judged; here we learn. From that moment, I felt part of the family. Now I know that in Acacías there truly is a place where women strengthen one another," said García.

Creation of the WFWP Mural
Participants: 7 people

In March, in commemoration of International Women’s Day, the GWPN group in Acacías created a mural to make visible the presence, identity, and peacebuilding work of WFWP in the territory.

The preparation began days before the painting activity. The team cleaned and washed the wall, organized materials, and prepared paints, brushes, and other supplies. The mural included the WFWP logo and became a public expression of the Federation’s work and formation process.

As the women painted, members of the community approached them, asked questions, and learned about the work of WFWP and the Global Women Peace Ambassadors. The mural became more than a visual project; it became a bridge of communication with the neighborhood.

Through this activity, the community learned first-hand about the formation process of the Peace Ambassadors and the peace work led by women in the local territory.

Gloria Pardo said: “Thanks to the mural activity carried out by the Peace Ambassadors, I learned about everything the Federation does. Before that, I did not know about it, and I found the training and peace work led by women in the territory very interesting. Seeing how they organized themselves and explained their work while painting made it clear to me that peace can indeed be built from the neighborhood. I hope that at some point I can participate in one of the activities they organize.”

April
Family and Children’s Values Activity
Participants: 40 people

In April, the GWPN group organized a community activity focused on children, families, values, and healthy recreation.

The activity began with a presentation of WFWP and the Global Women Peace Ambassadors, allowing families to understand the work being carried out in their territory. This was followed by a talk on values addressed to children, and then the projection of a film aligned with the purpose of the gathering.

Refreshments were offered at different moments of the day. Children enjoyed popcorn and drinks during the movie, hydration and ice cream during another part of the program, and later a hot dog with soda. The activity closed with a joyful recreational dynamic.

The children received a message about values through both the talk and the film. The space was not only entertaining, but also educational and reflective. By gathering parents, mothers, and children in the same space, and by sharing food, games, and meaningful messages, the bond between the Federation and the community was strengthened.

Families left with a positive image of WFWP and the Global Women Peace Ambassadors.

A nine-year-old boy participant said: “I really liked the movie and the popcorn. I also thought the hot dog and the ice cream at the end were great. I learned that it is important to be respectful with my friends. Thank you to the ladies.”

Another young person, eight-year-old girl, said "It was very fun because we watched a movie, played games, and they gave us ice cream. I liked it when they gave us balloons and talked about values. I want to come back to another activity.”

May
Mother’s Day Celebration: Health, Wellbeing, and Appreciation

Participants: 38 people

In May, the GWPN group celebrated Mother’s Day in the neighborhood with an integral health and wellbeing activity for mothers.

In coordination with the Secretariat for Women, the activity included basic health screening: blood pressure, weight, and vital signs, along with recommendations for disease prevention. Psychologists from the Secretariat also offered talks and individual attention to mothers who requested support.

Women micro-entrepreneurs from the territory participated by offering facial care activities and a talk on hair care. The day concluded with a snack and the distribution of gifts through a dynamic of gratitude messages.

This activity allowed mothers to feel valued and cared for. It also created an opportunity for them to learn more about the work of the Global Women Peace Ambassadors.

The health screening helped mothers become more aware of their wellbeing and receive recommendations to prevent risks such as obesity and other health conditions. The presence of psychologists created a safe space for listening, emotional support, and personal expression. Many mothers were able to speak, release emotional burdens, and receive individual guidance.

The facial and hair care activities, together with the gratitude messages and gifts, made the mothers feel seen and appreciated. The collaboration between the Secretariat for Women, psychologists, local entrepreneurs, and the GWPN team gave the community a strong perception of seriousness, care, and closeness.

This type of coordinated work increases trust and encourages greater participation in future community activities.

“It was the first time I came to an activity like this. I liked it very much because they checked my blood pressure, I spoke with the psychologist, and they even pampered my face. I felt that the mothers of the neighborhood were taken into account. Thank you to the Federation and to the Secretariat for Women for such a beautiful day,” said Geili Niño.

Fundraising Activity for the Global Women Peace Ambassadors Network
Participants: 6 people

In June, the GWPN group carried out a fundraising activity through the sale of traditional Colombian lechona.

Several weeks before the activity, the team decided to sell lechona as a practical fundraising strategy and began the pre-sale process. On Sunday, June 21, the team gathered in the morning to organize and deliver the orders to those who had previously reserved them. At the end of the activity, the group met to evaluate the results.

The community participated with enthusiasm. Because of the previous activities carried out by the Federation, people already recognized and trusted the work of WFWP and the Global Women Peace Ambassadors. This trust motivated them to support the fundraising effort.

The activity successfully raised funds for the Global Women Peace Ambassadors Network. It also strengthened teamwork, as the women organized the process together, distributed the orders, and reflected on the outcome.

This fundraising initiative demonstrated that community trust is built through consistent service. When people see concrete and positive actions, they are more willing to support future projects.

Don Andres said “I decided to support the activity because my wife already knew about the work they were doing. She had told me about what they do, and when I found out it was a lechona sale to raise funds, I thought it was a good cause, so I bought one. I think it is important to support this kind of initiative.”

From February to June 2026, the GWPN Acacías group reached more than 100 direct participants through activities focused on leadership, community visibility, values education, family strengthening, women’s wellbeing, and local fundraising.

The main achievements of this period include:

Improved connection between the WFWP and families in the neighborhood.

This timeline shows that peacebuilding is not only achieved through large events, but also through small, consistent, and sincere actions rooted in love, service, responsibility, and community care. The experience of GWPN Acacías, Meta, is a beautiful example of women serving with a Mother’s Heart and building peace from the neighborhood, one activity at a time.

Their work reminds us that peace begins in the heart, grows through service, and becomes visible when women unite with purpose, compassion, and responsibility.
