75th Anniversary of the Philippine-Austrian Relationship (UN Office Vienna)

On June 20, 2022, the Philippine Embassy in Austria invited the WFWPI Office for UN Relations in Vienna to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Philippine-Austrian relationship and the 124th Philippine Independence Day (June 15).

We met in the historical room of City Hall in Vienna in the evening. H.E. Ms. Irene Susan Natividad, Charge d’Affaires for Philipine, Special Ambassador from the Philipines and Representative of the Austrian National Government and Municipality of the City of Vienna explained to the invited guests the history of the development of the relationship between Philipine and Austria. It all started with the help of young Philipine nurses in the Austrian hospitals after the end of WWII.

We listened to wonderful music performances performed by young Filipino musicians.

Today about 30,000 Filipinos, of 3 generations, live in different parts of Austria and are well organized in the Philipino- Austrian Association. Most of them actively support their homeland in the Philipines.

At the end of the evening, we enjoyed Austrian-Philipino cuisine and deepened our relationships.

We look forward to future activities and projects for the well-being of both countries.
