On March 15, 2018, WFWP Paraguay and the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) Paraguay celebrated International Women's Day at the World Trade Center Building in Asuncion, Paraguay.

Deputy Cynthia Tarrago, Secretary-General of IAPP South America and IAPP Paraguay President, gave the welcoming remarks to around 140 participants, including three state ministers, two former state ministers, government officials, professionals and social women leaders.

A video presentation was  played on WFWPI's worldwide activities. Dr. Liz Maria Garcia de Arnold, former Defense Minister and current President of the Metropolitan University of Asuncion, then gave a speech on "Rural women, inequality and violence."

Mrs. Roswitha Dueck de Giuliano, President of WFWP Paraguay, gave a presentation explaining the founding and purpose of WFWP, the role and mission of Peace Ambassadors, and an overview of WFWP's activities that took place in 2017.

At this time, ten new Peace Ambassadors were appointed, including the Minister of Electoral Justice, Soroptimist's president, Government officials, and lawyers.

The presidents of IAPP, WFWP and Soroptimist co-signed a framework agreement to do activities together. Two new Peace Ambassadors expressed their deep appreciation for this nomination, committing themselves to support WFWP's activities.

The event ended with a raffle of traditional Paraguayan crafts brought by WFWP member and Peace Ambassador Dr. Susana Barua, traditional Paraguayan music played by a former Miss Paraguay and a beautiful Paraguayan dance performed by Prof. Myrian Diaz de Vivar and her two daughters.

During the cocktail hour, everyone was very highly spirited and inspired by the meeting. Special thanks to Deputy Cynthia Tarrago and her staff for their support, to WFWP's directive commission, and all those who helped to make this event successful.
