International Day of Families Commemoration (WFWP Kenya)

WFWP Kenya commemorated the International Day of Families on May 15, 2021, at the Sasamoto Center in Nairobi, Kenya. The theme, “Nurturing Young Families for Peace and Posterity” was chosen to celebrate young families as well as to launch the “Tulia Youth Initiative,” a program to sensitize the youth in grassroots and orient them towards fulfilling prosperous lives.


The majority of the attendants were mainly the youth and young couples. The young people were very happy to celebrate the International Day of Families in such a happy and loving environment, surrounded by family and friends.
Also in attendance was the Chairman of the Family Federation for World Peace Kenya, Rev. Mwalagho Kililo, WFWP Kenya Executive committee members, senior members of WFWP, International Association of Youth and Students for Peace (IAYSP) and Tongil Moo Do practitioners.
Rev. Kililo gave the opening remarks and stressed the importance of marriage and family in building a peaceful society. Next, Mrs. Susan Kone, President of WFWP Africa, gave an explanation of WFWP’s vision and mission, which is “empowering women as peacebuilders and leaders in the family to transform the community, nation and world.” Throughout this time, the speakers spoke on the importance of marking the United Nations holidays, in line with the global goals and vision, as well as increasing the participation of the young people in programs related to the family. For WFWP, we believe a loving and peaceful family environment is the key to attaining human security, and therefore, sustainable peace.
Mrs. Patricia Rangala, Vice Chairman of WFWP Kenya, honored the significance of the International Day of Families and shared guidance with young couples on how to avoid stress and improve their lives through maintaining a positive attitude.


Mrs. Jacinta Kalama, Secretary-General of WFWP Africa, welcomed the young people by preparing gifts for them. She expressed her gratitude for the invitation and pledged to support future events and the young people in their ambitious endeavors.
The closing included an entertainment segment and the young couples expressed their gratitude for the commemoration event.
