School Health, Hygiene & Environmental Project (Construction of toilets, sinks, water tanks and hygienic instruction)

Summary: In 1998, WFWP started constructing toilets, water tanks and sinks in public elementary schools, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health. It has also been offering instructions on hygiene, such as how to properly wash hands and brush teeth.

New Developments: In 2005, toilets (4 units, waste filtering system) and sinks (water tank, 6 faucets) were constructed in a Junior High School in Thingangyun township, Yangon. In 2006, more toilets (4 units, waste filtering system) and sinks (water tank, 7 faucets) were constructed in a school in same township. Handkerchiefs were also given to 550 students.
