WFWP School in Mozambique
Mozambique

Sun of Mozambique Secondary (Junior/Senior High) School
Founded: March 1995
Completion of the new school building: January 1999

Curriculum
Implemented in accordance with the general education curriculum designated by the government, Junior high school is a three year program (8th to 10th grade) and high school is a two year program (11th to 12th grade). Junior high school students study in the morning and the senior high school students in the afternoon. Moral education is conducted for the junior high school students.

Total number of graduates: 4,714

Project Outline:
The school was opened in the second largest city in Mozambique, Beira. The school has earned the reputation as being "Excellent and tuitions inexpensive." Ten years have passed since the end of the civil war, and the economy is doing well. Local cities like Beira, however, are not free from serious poverty. The shortage of schools is a serious problem. Though this is a private school, young people can receive a high quality education inexpensively; it helps students from poor families. Many students wish to enter this school from other districts. High quality teachers and a good library with over 4,000 books help students develop academic competency. The school has had 64 students who have passed the national university entrance exam since 2004, a fact attracting many people's attention. Out of the total operating expenses, WFWP Japan supports 36% and WFWP US supports 6%.
