WFWP Central Africa (Sub-region 3) organized an event to celebrate Women’s Month 2022. The theme was: "Female leadership, a guarantee of parity in the fight against climate change in the DRC, case of insalubrity in the city province of Kinshasa." We invited leaders from all different backgrounds to come and speak on the topic of female leadership.

We had a Reverend Mother from the Protestant Church of Congo who shared that throughout history, women in the Christian Church started at the lowest rungs of the ladder and climbed up all the way until today, where we have women pastors and women bishops. A speaker from civil society also talked about how women had difficulty accessing leadership and by supporting and working together with men, they were able to gain a leadership position.

Next, the Regional Director of Education, Mrs. Bernadette Fogue, shared about Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, Co-founder of WFWPI, who is also affectionately known as Mother Moon. Mrs. Fogue spoke on the maternal leadership paradigm, in which we treat the world as our family. Throughout the event, the value of “living for the sake of others” was emphasized and with that, the Global Women’s Peace Network was launched.
