Helping Ukrainians During Humanitarian Crisis and Power Outages

Written by: WFWP Ukraine

Since October 2022, massive missile attacks have seriously damaged about 40% of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, causing blackouts across the country. Millions of people are subjected to emergency blackouts and suffer because of constant interruptions in light, heat, water and communications.

The Women’s Federation for World Peace Ukraine in cooperation with its partners organized the distribution of power banks to Ukrainian families in need. Thirteen Ukrainian families received power banks with bulbs, allowing them to adapt to the new living conditions dictated by the war.

One of those families also asked for help with building a stove. Vadym and Viktoriia live with their three children in a village near Kyiv. They have been facing significant hardships with electricity, fuel and heat, because of shelling and attacks on infrastructure. Thanks to our financial assistance, the family was able to build a stove to provide them with heat and the ability to cook.

In cooperation with the Kyiv-Svyatoshynsky Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation in Boyarka City, Kyiv Oblast, and the Child.ua Association, WFWP initiated the "Shoes for Children'' project. More than 50 internally displaced children and other children from families in difficult circumstances received winter shoes, with our volunteers personally assisting in selecting the necessary footwear.

Unfortunately, the arrival of winter also brought health problems, with many struggling to afford food and medicine. Our organization provides financial assistance to help alleviate these difficulties and strives to provide at least minimal comfort to those affected by the war.

During the months of January and February, WFWP Ukraine kept receiving plenty of requests from families from various regions of Ukraine, as well as refugees abroad. Low income families, families with many children, families raising children with disabilities, lonely elderly people and internally displaced people were sharing their stories and asking for help.

There are so many stories and destinies. WFWP Ukraine is happy to help and wishes for all families and all of Ukraine to return to a normal, peaceful rhythm of life as soon as possible!
